Got into Singapore yesterday. As always it is a structured and well organized society greeting you. Plenty of young eager voulonteers – smooth accreditation system and a nice hotel seta good tone for the fourteen days stay . I am sure we will survive and survive well in the good hands of the IOC and the local organizers of the very first YOUTH OLYMPIC GAMES. The opening cermony kicks off in eight hours or so and we will report on both this blog and the facebook group page from the opening. Stay tuned.
Also met up with Jean Phillippe Gatien – our YOG role model this morning. He will be part of the ITTF YOG Training camp . Philou seems OK and well motivated for the task on hand. Jorgen Persson also sent a text from a hotel nearby. Persson is here in Singapore on duty for his national association . I am sure he will join in as well.
Other than that.. Our Comp Manager – The ITTF GJP Director Raul Calin gave us a run-down of variuos issues and i also had the pleasure to accompany Glenn Tepper our Executive Director for the now award winning ITTF Development Program to a meeting with the foundation for Global Sports Development http://www.globalsportsdevelopment.org , a US based organization that are supporting some ITTF projects already.
Stay tuned for more updates from tonight..
