Result Update

Very short after a long day in the hall.

Four out of the six ITTF WHT 2009 members will , tomorrow morning enter the playing field  for the quarterfinals in the  Boys 97 Euro  Mini Champs in Schiltigheim . Charles Deng from the USA will have a French opponent in his quarterfinal – Bryan Afanador from Puerto Rico the same.  Patryk Zatowka from Poland is up against Bogdan Tikhonov from Russia whilst Christof Cristonof from Cyprus will face Loius Welschbillig from France. Will be exiting to see what happens 0930 tomorrow morning.

Fermin Tenti lost in four games to team mate Patryk Zatowka in the round of 16. The boys and the involved coaches opted for a decision without bench-coaching involved. The wonderfully talented Argentinian from La Plata outside Buenos Aires had his chances with three game points missed in the crucial third game with the scored tied at one..However Zatowka who clearly is one of the mentally stronger players in the field kept his cool and took the match..

Bryan Afanador from Puerto Rico continues to excel.. His game does have some flaws at times – but here is another tough young boy with good self confidence.  With the score tied at 8 in the fifth and deciding game in  his last match of the day,  the young Latin American showed no hesitation against Alexis Douin from France  . Two good services gave him the necessary cushion and a passage to the quarterfinals.

Also the five girls competing for the ITTF WHT delivered up to expectations this Saturday. The Peruvian left-hander Janina Nieto will play in the 9-16 bracket togther in the girls 98 whilst Angelina Tan Qi from Malaysia will fight for a position slightly lower.Salma Khaled from Egypt is the best performer in the girls 1997 competition playing in the 17-32 bracket.
