The ITTF WFIM project came alive in 2003 when the  crafty ITTF  Executive Director Mr Jordi Serra  with is hard work opened the door to the IOC Olympic Solidarity programmes made available for sport.  The budget allocated through participating National Olympic Committees has grown over the years  with achieved success. The ITTF facilitates planning as well as practical execution of events and training camps with the support allocated. Participating NOC;s will get first class value for the identified athletes. The ITTF World Hopes Team powered by Butterfly is talent scouting and development combined in a very interesting package. The ITTF had 169 applications from 41 countries in 2009 and much more is expected for next year. Manager for the 2009 WHT is Mrs Zita Pidl from Hungary and Head coach Mr Dejan Papic from Toronto/Montreal. The first activity for the selected athletes and coaches took place in Chengdu, CHN in June and the second appearance will happen  in France at the Euro Minichamps in late August. Stay tuned for much more activities surrounding this young age group in the future.

The event in Chengdu – The Chinese Junior Open was covered in depth on the ITTF website;

    My daughter, Rebecca Ayestas from HONDURAS,
    left a dream behind when she was the no. 9 and lost her opportunity for the cadet challenge at CANADA. Wasn´t well prepared for it, have been 2 times central american champ in 2007 and 2008 and 3rd in latinamerican championship in 2007, right now second at EL SALVADOR JUNIOR OPEN 2009, but has NEVER received any high training but just her own desire to play well. Her coach, MARCO MEDINA, was the only one who saw talent in the little girl who started at 9 and is now 14 years old, hoping someone else could also see what she has done and what could she do if trained at a higher level as her coach says.

    • Dear Gabriela,
      All the best for your daughter. Particpation in international events is the way forward. The ITTF has rapidly increased the number of events in Latin America and i am also relatively pleased with the nuber of events in the Central American region..

    Even though I do what´s possible to send my daughter to International events, I would like to know how can I send an application to ITTF for her training outside our country, HONDURAS.
    Thank you

    • The road goes through success in your own country and then the first step of international events close to Honduras. If the talent is good – result will show.. We can then become a partner for sure.. Mikael

    Rebecca has already got important Individual titles in Honduras, Central America, Latin America and ITTF events but has not received support, just by her coach who recommends to train her at a higher level and how can she grow and become a stronger player if she doesn´t ger prepared enough for internatinal events like for example the panam ittf at El Salvador next year on February

    • Then it all depends on the level of her talent – playing style and partly on results. Most of the work before entering the international level needs to be done in Honduras.

    Dear Mikael

    This’s Doaa Father of Alia Doaa the one you mention as below
    ______________
    The Hardest Working Female Player Award ; Alia DOAA , Egypt – Another girl from the famous Al Ahly club in Egypt ready to work hard. Highest grade in backhand block , tempo and physical demeanour. Much worse off, not surprisingly when it comes to service and return ( Coaches in Egypt !- when will the change come ?) . On top of that she also had a tendency to doubt herself when the score became close and crucial. Finished on position thirteen in the singles event.
